Abomination

Abomination

Means that God detests gay men,

Liars, and bacon!

“Which passages of scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith?”

Barack Obama

Abomination is a word used by people of the Bible to describe something that God does not like. All abominations are not the same, though. Some, like a man lying with another man, require the death penalty while others, like eating unclean food (pork, squirrel, crab, lobster, shrimp) only require like 80 lashes or something like that. Christians seem to believe that being gay is so bad but they won’t follow the rule of God to kill them. Maybe it’s because they’re not sure that if they kill the gay man if they would be put to death by God for breaking one of his commands. It’s all so confusing. I’ll have a ham sandwich with my beer and think about it some more.

Fear and Shame In the Closet

Hurt, judgment, and pain,

That’s what the church means to me…

Rainbows in closets

Overwhelming scientific and medical knowledge exist today pointing to an inescapable conslusion. Sexual orientation is not a moral choice. It is something to which people awaken.

Bishop John Shelby Spong, The Sins of Scripture page 125

One thing the Christian religion has done successfully is categorizing, shaming, and excluding the LGBTQ community. Some denominations have come to their senses and have realized their misinterpretation of the Bible and have welcomed them with open arms. Some will say something stupid like, “Well, we hate the sin but love the sinner.” And then there are the fundamentalists who take the Bible literally and just hate the sin and the sinner. It’s a confusing religion and a complicated Bible.

Living a Lie In a Supernatural World

Closet clergy in disguise…

Atheist and gay

I do not think it is necessary to believe that the same God who has given us our senses, reason, and intelligence wished us to abandon their use, giving us by some other means the information that we could gain through them.

Atheists In the Pulpit Article, The Gay Church Article

I had a pastor years ago who came out as having “gay tendencies” in his earlier years (whatever the hell that means). He was still ousted and shunned by most of our congregation. His life as a pastor was ruined. He was also married with two beautiful daughters who were in college. I never forgave our church for that. Even though he was intelligent, moral, loving, compassionate, and a great leader, our church decided to throw him out along with his virtuous qualities because of a couple of misconstrued passages in our antiquated Bible.

Aborted But Not Stoned

Abortion is not

A sacred top ten command

Adultery rocks

Exodus 20:14, Exodus 31:18, Mark 10:11-12, Ten Commandments List, Texas Abortion Ban

The original Ten Commandments were written onto stone tablets by “the finger of God.” And yes, Adultery is one of the ten! Can you imagine if Texas banned Adultery like they did Abortion? Jesus is clearly against adultery and it happens to be on God’s Top Ten List of no-nos for humankind! I have a hard time understanding why some Christians are so up in arms about abortion (and gay marriage) and are so forgiving when it comes to adultery. Our lawmakers struggle to have the stone tablets on their front lawn and other public places. But, God’s words have no real meaning for them.
