Hide-and-Seek God

Invisible God

If seeing is believing…

Why are you hiding?

But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”

John 20:24-29 NRSV

Yes, I am a skeptic just like the Apostle Thomas. He doubted like I doubt now, but he got the proof he needed. I’m still waiting for God to show his face to me. I don’t necessarily wish to touch his wounds. Maybe having a beer or two with him would convince me.

Judging the Sinless

He cleanses our sins

To assure our salvation

Until judgment day

John 3:16, Revelation 1:5, John 5:26-29, 1 Corinthians 3:8, Mark 3:28-29

God does not like sinners and allowed his Son to be sacrificed on the cross to pay for all who sin (Revelation 1:5). Well, at least for those who were believers (John 3:16) making that a condition of being saved. I was always told that my sins were abolished by this act of kindness. So, if my sins are wiped clean, why is Jesus coming back to judge the “living and the dead? (John 5:26-29)” Is there some kind of reward ranking in heaven (1 Corinthians 3:8)? Or maybe I have committed the Unforgivable Sin (Mark 3:28-29) and didn’t realize it. That’s possible!

Mystical Eucharist

Water into wine

Jesus’ magical juice

Bloody, bloody wine

John 2:1-11

The Gospel of John is the only book where Jesus turns water into wine (John 2:1-11). I find it ironic that wine is used in the Eucharist (aka Holy Communion or the Lord’s Supper) to symbolize Jesus’ blood. Of course, the Catholic sect of Christianity considers the wine to be the real blood of Christ (transubstantiation).
